Browse a bookstore and you will find a healthy shelf labeled ”Crime.” Beside it may be a smaller, seedier shelf labeled ”True Crime.” The first is popular crime fiction, the second crime fact. Fictional crime has taken over, writes Mark Seltzer, and the confusion of reality and event has saturated-and even defined-contemporary American culture. In his widely read Serial Killers, American studies scholar Mark Seltzer analyzed the American obsession with violent accident-vehicular homicide, serial murders, and other spectacularly awful events. True Crime carries the argument of Serial Killers into a broader arena. Using crime as his canvas, Mark Seltzer offers a dazzling analysis of how our cultural fantasies, fears, and desires have blurred the distinction between fiction and real event. As victims of the ”CSI-effect,” he argues, we’ve come to see the world as the scene of a crime. From Edgar Allan Poe’s detective stories up to Patricia Highsmith’s ambiguous Ripley and the rash of reality TV shows, True Crime is an unblinking look at the thriving ”murder leisure industry.” It is essential reading for anyone seeking to understand why culture is increasingly defined by and addicted to violence.

Director Tony Scott’s tale of an ex-Marine-turned-bodyguard (Denzel Washington) who responds to the kidnapping of his young charge and her family with a violence-drenched cycle of revenge and torture is driven by the filmmaker’s typically manic visual sense. The Newton Boys were the most successful bank robbers in the history of the United States. They never killed anyone, never snitched, and only robbed banks (just bigger thieves, in their opinion), until their final deal, which was a botched train robbery for $3 million. Engagingly played by Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke, Skeet Ulrich, and Vincent D’Onofrio, the Boys don’t have the kind of flaw…

The Idea Of Real Love - Unconditional Love

Love is a very popular term and often one of the most abused words in the dictionary. All men know about love. At least they got ideas about love. Even a small kid has his own concept of love. Then again, only some know the true definition of the word love. Some deem love as passionate and tender affection. Others express love as a strong affinity towards another person, animal or thing.

Evidently, love is fuzzy and complex to describe. You can check various dictionaries, translations, psychology books and authors but you will by no means find the true meaning and essence of love. To know the real meaning of love, we should refer to God, the author of love. As a matter of fact, God is love.

God does not simply love but He is love. It is because love is His character and the demonstration of His self. Everything God does, flow from His love. It is not the same love that people are accustomed of.

The bible teaches that “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails”

That definition of love is not just a nirvana or affection, a fleeting feeling, a growing craving or a matter of preference. People are mistaken about love and how to stay in love. Normally, people only focus on the goodness and the affinity. Certainly, it is easy to love people who are your own flesh and blood or your comrade who stayed with you through thick and thin. But suppose you cannot find any nobility on him or her? What if you are not blood linked and he or she is your enemy? Are you willing to do the things mentioned in the bible?

Unconditional is defined as final or not limited by any stipulations or state of affairs. Eagerness to love and to do the things described in the bible despite who the person is and what he or she does is called unconditional love. This kind of love was first demonstrated by God to us by sending His begotten son to deliver us from everlasting death and for us to be called His children. And He did this while we were all sinners and unworthy of the priceless gift of eternal life. God loved us although we are faithless and rebellious. Our nature does not know how to love others truly even ourselves. But because God showed His love through His son Jesus, we now have a good picture of love and most of all - unconditional love.

You may be wondering if it is feasible for you to love unconditionally just like God because you are only human. The good thing is that God has given those who receive His son Jesus the gift of eternal life and the ability to love unconditionally. This is because of the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells on them.

Comprehending God’s love gives fullness to your life. Only His love satisfies thus allows you to savor and have a significant life. Allow God to show and experience His love through believing in His son Jesus Christ and devoting your life to Him. Then love will certainly overflow and empowers you to love other people unconditionally through the Holy Spirit.
