Tips For Beginning Skateboarders

It is pretty incredible how much of a significant difference skateboarding tips can have, of course you have to think about certain factors.

So just how hard is it to skateboard? Basically you're only standing, yeah? But won't the skateboard be doing all the work? When you're just starting, you may be thinking these questions. You'll find out in a hurry there's a lot more to it than standing on a board that's rolling along. You'll need some skill, and you'll need to practice to get it.

You've got to put the practice time in. No way around it. Hold-off on attempting the advanced tricks though, it's important to work on the fundamentals first. Here are some of the things you need to know when you are starting out.

Takes a little time to know which foot goes where on the board. Ok, first - it really makes no difference here if you're right/left handed. You have to figure out which leg is your dominant leg. The best way to do this is to think about the way you approach things. Which foot do you naturally use when you kick a ball? Walking up stairs, which foot do you usually start out with? If you stumble, which foot do you automatically use to catch yourself with? Your answer to those questions is your dominant leg, and it usually stays toward the rear of the board. How you stand has less to do with which way you want to face as you move on the board and more to do with which leg is stronger and sturdier.

Turning is all about holding your balance while shifting the weight of your body.

This does not mean that you have to lean your entire body frontwards or backwards. So you'll want to shift your weight by shifting from flat-footed to either heel/ball of your feet. Keep your body upright, no swaying one way or the other. You may fall if you're leaning or swaying too much. Practice turning on a flat, even and uncrowded surface. Avoid sharp turns at first. Practice making wide, gentle turns so you can get good at shifting your weight. Once you get that mastered, you can practice lifting the front of your board a little bit to allow you to turn more sharply.

We trust that what you will have learned in this article with regard to skate rails, as well as also the particular info regarding street boards, is of use to you. Please do keep reading additionally so you can get further insights about this subject matter.

Goofy and Regular are two basic stances you'll want to learn. The Regular stance is done with the left foot in front, right foot in the rear. In Goofy the opposite is true. You can push-off in four different ways. Regular: Use your right foot to push, Mongo Regular: Push with your front (right) foot, Goofy: Use your left foot, and Mongo Goofy: Push with your front (left) foot. It'll take a bit of time to decide what's best for you. There are variatons in the stances and strengths depending on each person. You'll need some time and skating experience to decide what you like. Just stay in shape and work on the basics, and you'll be well on your way before you realize it. One day you'll realize you're more comfortable skateboarding than you are walking!
